Green Geeks dominates the Earth-friendly web hosting market, while simultaneously offering hosting packages that compete with most business-class services. Shoppers who do the research behind green web hosting, and who care about both the value, and the virtue, of the hosting they buy, tend to host at Green Geeks. Its 300% Green Energy rating, and the incredibly generous limits attached to the packages themselves, make Green Geeks a good choice.
Location
Based in San Diego? No. Green Geeks is located in Los Angeles.
Reliability
The Green Geeks datacenters are located in Chicago, IL and Phoenix, AZ are equipped with raised floors, climate control, 24/7 security, fire suppression systems, water detection systems, UPS & generators to ensure that our customers data is safe and secure. GreenGeeks uses the latest generation processors from Intel and uses Juniper and Cisco for network switching/routing.
Green Geeks’s network services are monitored 24/7. This means if anything occurs, engineers will fix the problem in no time. On the whole, the company’s servers seem very reliable. Backups are provided as a free feature and are available at any time.
Money Back Guarantee
As with any good host, Green Geeks provides a “30 day” money back guarantee. There are some nonrefundable fees, though, that you won’t get back if you choose to leave Green Geeks right after you pay them (like fees for services beyond a selected plan or costs paid to third party providers), but that’s the common practice among hosting services. Some hosts won’t let you take your domain name with you when you leave, but Green Geeks allows you to keep your domain name (you will just get the fee for it redacted from the refund).
Ease of Use
Green Geeks implements what is probably the most common solution in the hosting industry – cPanel. It is one of the easiest hosting control panels to use and you’ll have no problem finding everything you need. Green Geeks hasn’t done any enhancements to their panel so it is pretty much just a vanilla looking cPanel.
Technical Support
One of the most important features of a host is their level of technical support. In the case of Green Geeks it’s beyond praise. They feature phone support, live chat, and ticketing. The staff are all polite, quick to assist, and willing to help. What’s even more important is that Green Geeks features a staff of web developers and programmers meaning if you have a problem with your website (that’s not hosting related) you can pay them to assist with fixing it. That’s a huge help if you’re not a web designer yourself.
Conclusion
For environmentally conscious businesses, Green Geeks is definitely a good choice for going online with your small business or personal website. Very few can boast being 300% green. Although their panel is basic the service offering is very competitive.

I was with GreenGeeks for a few years. They actually lost my site. I ended up going elsewhere and was considering going after them legally. The good thing is I saved a backup but lost a few weeks of site updates.
Did not like this company at all. Moved all of my services. They say they're green..I say otherwise....
